Byrne Sand & Gravel Co. Inc.
William L. Byrne Co. was started from the purchase of one dump truck in 1951. Working from his home, Bill Byrne used his dump truck to haul materials for several local companies. The land, that continues today as the business site, was purchased in 1958. Excavation and sand & gravel were the main activities at the time.
The William L Byrne Co. became W. L. Byrne Inc. and was incorporated in 1964. Byrne Sand & Gravel Co. Inc. was opened as a corporation in 1966. In 1974 Byrne Sand & Gravel Co. Inc. became a concrete supplier and W. L. Byrne Inc. became the aggregate company and gradually discontinued the excavation portion of the business. Cranberry production began in the late 80´s with the purchase of 400 acres known as the Elk Range.
At the present time, there are six family members actively involved in the business including the founder.
